You might recognize the name Codrut Turcanu. He has been working online for a few years.
Codrut's story is amazing. He is a veteran in the online world – since 1999 – and he's been hustling the whole time.
I really like Codrut's focus on bringing value & information to visitors.
Take it away...
Success is within yourself, it's waiting to manifest – with your help & guidance. @CodrutTurcanu
1. What is your name and current job/profession?
Codrut Turcanu. Marketing Online Since 1999. I connect top bloggers with industry experts and key influencers for maximum leverage.
My #1 skill is tapping into other people’s knowledge and turn it into a wealth of resources: blogs, content, products and services. I do this 24/7.
2. How did you get started building niche websites? How long have you been building websites?
I discovered niche sites back in 2003 when I got into affiliate marketing part-time yet wasn’t dead serious about it. I wanted to create my own Ebook (which I gave away to build a 1k+ mailing list) – and I barely knew what to do with my contacts.
One year later I built my first premium product, interviewing top affiliates in the game and niche site builders. Made $7k in 3 days with the help of one Super affiliate, Allan Gardyne @ www.AssociatePrograms.com
NOTE: I was doing this with no copywriting skills and English was not even my native language. I had to build my site and my product myself, without relying on others as I had no money to invest.
However, I was very strategic about my approach to product launching and building relationships online.
Lesson learned: focus on other people first and their needs. Create connections with key people in your industry and help out and results will astonish you.
I make an habbit to respond emails personally, and interact with my audience on Twitter, Quora and other social channels. Hustle your way to success, that’s my advice for both newcomers and veterans in the online business game.
Someone once said something like.. ‘the elevator to success is broken, you have to take the stairs.’
I started building niche sites since discovering WordPress, back in 2005.
3. Tell us about one (preferred) or multiple of your successful websites. What is the URL and what niche are you targeting? If you are not willing to publicly share your domain or niche, that’s just fine.
I learned the hard way a key lesson about business. Never share your best money-makers/links publicly. That’s for two main reasons:
Competitors will definitely copy-cat you and they’ll either do it better and out-rank your pages in Google – which means less money for you – or they’ll create yet another lousy site on the topic, which will abound the online world with duplicate junk.
Lesson learned: if you don’t care to write the best content on the topic, look for something else. Visitors stick to a page because it helps them or reminds them to take action in a better or more convincing way, not because you regurcitate the same old idea.
When I say write, I don’t mean to do it yourself, as the only option. Best idea: team up with skilled bloggers or outsource the content marketing. You need to know how to do it properly and maximize your investment, obviously!
There are a “million“ of niches out there, which you can discover with the right keyword research tools and competitive analysis services. Your imagination is not the limit. The limit is time and energy. How great you are at managing the two is a direct response to your success and results, online and offline.
Build your niche site launching system first.
You need to know how to create content that rocks and how to promote it to bring residual traffic for months and years down the road.
Getting natural back-links through content should be your focus, not buying ads or placement (short term gains).
Don’t fall for the multiple streams of income dream. Building niche sites on auto-pilot does not work for people with limited time, money and energy. It works for teams who follow proper systems.
If somebody without a system set into place wants to build multiple niche sites at once, they’ll more than probably fail at 90% of the sites launched.
Create a site – grow it – sell it – then take the money from it and build two sites.
Rinse and repeat your approach only once it’s proven to work.
4. How much money do you make from this successful website(s) each month?
Since I did not reveal any site, I cannot speak on this topic, however, I have noticed something interesting about income claims and how people react to them.
You have heard about bloggers sharing income reports and detailing how much money they make and some even share how much they invest to generate the revenue.
What happens next is crazy.
People who are new to the game and do not understand the implications of niche site building and content creation and marketing think this is a game.
Someone who does not understand what goes beyind the process of this business definitely needs to learn the ins and outs. They will have to pay both with their time and money. There’s no other way. If you’re reading this and want to start with SEO and niche sites or whatever your venture, remember this:
You have to pay to enter the game. With your time and money. Time is where your attention goes. What you believe in. What you expect from your effort and investment.
I gave you some ‘aha’ tips to help you implement these ideas in any area of your life, personal and financial. If you understand to read in between the lines, then you’re smart. Success is within yourself already, it just wait to manifest – with your help and guidance.
Remember: it all starts with your understand of the topic.
5. What is the reason for this website’s success?
My success with whatever niche project I start and finish revolves around two things:
One, I read and learn the project requirements. I understand my niche and audience. I realise content is what drives the Internet. Blogs are information-driven and people are looking for answers to their problems. This is where I and my team tap into.
Second, I understand the implications of time, energy and money. We all have limited resources, so I make an objective to get involved the right people in my projects to achieve my goals, plain and simple.
You should always look to have others help with your project:
- Content co-creators and promoters (aka experts and influencers)
- Affiliates, and so on.
You can get these for free or low-cost (if you know how to negotiate and sell your vision) – however select your people with close attention.
When it comes to building niche sites, start small, but in a spectacular way.
Create expert roundups to get on the radar of top bloggers in your niche.
Then create your own products and services. It’s not hard if you have the right team and people with you. Online or local, it doesn’t matter. Principles are alike.
Does it make sense?
Stop creating 5-page AdSense sites and thin product review Amazon blogs. Think above that, way above.
Build the type of content site you want to read, print, and learn from. That’s why selecting a niche you’re passionate about or really want to learn on is ideal.
6. Please briefly share your overall strategy for finding a niche, getting traffic to your site, ranking in Google, and making money from niche sites.
Since I talked more about the mindset principles for success and what goes behind niche site building, now it’s time to get into the nitty gritty and share with you my strategy in short:
Finding the niche..
For years I have used LongTailPro, Amazon (more recently), Google.com (their Trends) and blogs. Nowadays, I add Twitter and Quora in the mix since they’re a must.
Depending on your niche you may want to use Quantcast, Facebook, Pinterest and other channels to find about your target audience.
Focus on the questions people ask in Google, forums, blogs, Twitter, Quora, etc. Use the exact keyword combination they type in, as well as synonyms that you see it fit naturally. LSI helps here.
You’ll use the right tools for this along with your imagination and experience.gr
Create the best content in the market on the topic/keyword/question.
That means you have to research the top 20 blog posts, articles, mentions, pages, etc. about your topic/keyword/question – and make something 10x times better (just find ways, get creative!)
Some of the best traffic will come from the craziest ideas you will have.
However inspiration comes first from (manual) competitive research and not from the top of one’s head.
Amazon + AdSense + product and service selling
I believe this works in 98% of all niches.
7. What link-building tips can you offer?
None. Just kidding.
You can (1) buy links, (2) ask for them or (3) receive them because your content deserves it.
There are countless ways of doing this online already. Common and less common, depending on the industry and niche. I focus on the 3rd option. This is the best long-term strategy.
8. How has the success from this website impacted your life?
I am happy when my site impacts people and that’s why they share my content.
Success = helping others achieve their goals or find solutions to their problems.
Sooner than later, monetary success will follow. However, once again, you have to be very strategic about your monetization methods and understand the implications.
I now have less clients and projects to deal with on a monthly basis because multi-tasking and joggling with different things is not fun and it is counter-productive in my case.
9. Do you have any additional tips or advice for others that would like to replicate your success with their own websites?
They cannot replicate success, they can immitate the approach and strategy one uses to achieve their goals.
Results will differ as each project gives us a few variables which we cannot control or track, no matter how much you know and understand. Only when you hit roadblocks, you’ll learn more on how to overcome your challenges, and end up with new insights and gains.
That’s what makes life and business exciting, don’t you think?
10. Do you have a blog or other place that people can following along with what you are doing?
