Reader Questions – Session 3

It’s been a while since the last Q & A session. Today, I answer 3 more questions…

  1. How do you look at the competition on the first page?
  2. Why are the Amazon Reports wrong? Will I get paid out??
  3. How much do you outsource? How much do you actually do yourself as the project manager?

  1. How do you look at the competition on the first page?
    • This question is from Rob.

      – I found some great keywords with low KC numbers from Long Tail Pro

      – KC numbers of under 25

      – Top 10 in Google for the keywords are BIG name websites (Macy’s, REI, Nordstrom’s, etc.) & their site age is greater than 10 years in most cases.

      Is this niche too hard??

      Here is my answer:

If your site is targeting products sales (like amazon associates based sites), be sure you are targeting buyers keywords. If your competition is mainly ecommerce sites like you are mentioning, yes, you should be nervous. those will be hard to beat. Period.

Lastly, the KC numbers are really good to have. BUT, if a site has mostly PBN links from sites that are hidden from the backlink crawlers then the KC number might be lower than it should be.

  2. Why are the Amazon Reports wrong? Will I get paid out??
    • This question is from John.

      – The Amazon reports show 81 orders but only 78 shipped. Then a few days later it showed that only 58 units shipped. What happened??

      – 12 days later all the reports in Amazon showed that earnings are $0…

      – The previous month shows $0 also…

      – What happened and will I get paid??

      Here is my answer:

It takes some time for orders to ship.

The rest are simply reporting issues.

They upgrade systems, there is down time for maintenance, etc…

      Relax.

Check again in a few days…

  3. How much do you outsource? How much do you actually do yourself as the project manager?
